Prepare Him Room
This Advent season, wherein the church celebrates the coming of Christ, may we create space to pause, slow down, and consider the truth that Jesus is near. Just as is written in the classic Christmas song “Joy to The World”: “Let earth receive her King. Let every heart Prepare Him Room,” we endeavor to intentionally carve out space to prepare room for our Messiah, Jesus Christ.
Traditionally, Advent is celebrated with an advent wreath surrounded by 5 candles. The evergreen represents the eternal nature of God, while the candles represent Jesus, the Light of heaven, coming to dwell among us. A candle is lit for 4 weeks leading up to Christmas, and the 5th candle, the Christ Candle, is lit on Christmas Eve.
In our weekend services leading up to Christmas, we will light the candles of the Advent wreath. On December 18th, 19th, and 20th, we will have a special concert worship experience at the Kempsville Campus. Finally, our advent celebration will culminate in a candlelight Christmas Eve service at all of our campuses.
Each week in our services we will light a candle in the advent wreath.
We invite you to gather advent wreath materials and join us in this celebration with your family.
Join us at the Kempsville Campus as we Prepare Him Room through worship and song.
