Join us for our Good Friday Service!
New Life’s Tenebrae service is a somber event; its purpose is to help us focus on Jesus the suffering servant and Jesus’ sacrifice for us as we prepare our hearts for Easter. The word tenebrae comes from Latin meaning “darkness” or “shadows”. The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that makes use of gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles and other light sources to symbolize the events of that week, from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry to Jesus’ burial. The service has scripture narratives, homilies, special worship music, and a message from Pastor Joel. It culminates with the opportunity to confess our personal sins to God by taking them to the cross. This service is purposely left unfinished, because the story isn’t over until Easter Day.
