New Life’s Youth ministry is committed to discipleship. Its goal is to inspire, support, and compel students to form and develop a lifestyle of following Jesus.
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. All the services below are from 7:00–8:30p at the Kempsville Campus.
***NOTE***
On the first Wednesday, students are encouraged to initiate times of fellowship and community with one another outside of the context of “church” (this is not church-organized but is to be initiated by students and family units if they so desire).
Discipleship Groups are a year-long program that meets three times a month for a calendar year with a group of 20 students and a Pastor/Director of New Life Church. For one year, the group goes through the Bible to identify and apply biblical principles to one’s life with the committed purpose of Becoming like Jesus.
***NOTE***
Discipleship groups are reserved for students who are invited/apply for this group. These groups are typically reserved for students who have completed and graduated from our Core training and equipping program. It is also designed for students who legitimately & authentically want to deepen their faith with the commitment of becoming more like Jesus.
All students who complete this discipleship group will be given an opportunity to attend an international missions trip together during the summer, which is scheduled to take place every other summer. In alternating years, an international missions trip will still be offered, and any youth can attend along with families, young adults, etc., through our global outreach department.
Discipleship Group Meetings will take place three times a month:
All discipleship groups corporately would participate in an annual local spiritual history tour of Hampton Roads.
All discipleship groups would corporately participate in one to two Discipleship Intensive Weekends throughout the year at a retreat center, church, or home.
New Life’s weekend service is continually working towards what we refer to as an intergenerational church. The intergenerational church is where there is a distinct level of intentionality about bringing different generations together with a mutually influential relationship. New Life’s youth ministry expression is designed to allow students the opportunity to begin to be a part of the broad expression of New Life’s weekend services. Because of this commitment, we are continuing to create opportunities for our youth to be more and more involved in New Life weekend services, as well as shape and influence our weekend services. We believe strongly that students aren’t just the church of tomorrow but, more accurately, today’s church.
Several different services and programs rotate depending on the Weekend Service.
Breakfast Club Weekends: Middle Schoolers Only (1st, 3rd & 5th Sundays of every month during New Life’s Weekend Services)
Youth Serve Weekends (2nd & 4th Sundays of every month during New Life’s Weekend Services)
